What I learned on March 12:
1- The citric acid cycle in all it's detailed glory. Holy smokes it makes your brain hurt. .
2- My hair is unpredictable and unruly. Normally I like it. Not
today. Today was a day when I wishes I had straight hair.
3- I desperately need new contacts. Too bad my prescription ran out and I don't really have the time/money for an appointment right now.
4- Springtime is sometimes a facade that winter wears so it can trap you in your shorts, sandals an skirts unawares. Then will remind you that a winter in UT extends to
May sometimes.
5- I could never be a model: a) I don't like cameras and b) I don't like audiences, catcalls, or whistles

I sat down here with all intents to write something big.
I don't know why I expected that. Maybe because my head has been full of tidbits and tiny pieces of laughter I wanted to share with you.
Every time I open this blog to try and write something, all the smidgeons of ideas disappear. Maybe because the little glimmers of ideas come to me while I am not sitting at a desk.
And maybe that's the way it should be. Another reason why I'm tempted to give this thing up. I'm not so good at "being all inspiring" or whatever people write blogs for. So maybe I'll let you find yours somewhere else.

about TIME. sheesh.
Can I just say I've been waiting for a moment like this for 4 years? I've gotten good grades like this before, but not on a test for my major. Just on little side tests like ethics, and judaism, and d&c, and english. but never on a test for a major class. BOOOOOOOYAH.
I'm pretty peacock proud right now. Except I have yet another test (for my major, yet again) tomorrow before I can claim my freedom for the holiday weekend.
Time to get off my proud pedestal and back to the old grind. I just wanted to document this moment for posterity's sake (and my sanity's - for when finals roll around and I feel utterly stupid again). And I thought this picture was strangely appropriate:

Then what's the point?!?!
One of my coworkers has swine flu. Which means I got the privilege of waking up before the crack of dawn yesterday and traveling through the quiet of the sleeping BYU world. And open up for work at 6:45 in the a.m.(BACKGROUND NOTE: The on-campus housing area where I work has graciously invited the children of the neighborhood across the street to come to each of the dorms and trick-or-treat at each of the student's doors.)And besides the fact that opening yesterday meant I didn't have to work today, I got one special treat out of it. Around 9 a.m. I received a phone call from a very concerned father. He called us to tell us to please PLEASE please make sure that the students passed out healthy treats (isn't that an oxymoron?) and snacks to the children.

Excuse me while I sit here and try to understand what else this commercial holiday is all about. Because apparently, Halloween shouldn't be all about candy.

I hate to brag, but this is like a 100% on a math test that gets put on the refrigerator...
So you know how in high school there were times when you didn't really have to try and you were still smart? (I'd like to thank my mother and father for passing on the smart genes!) And you just had a blast because classes were full of your friends and you played sports after school to stay entertained? Weekends were about fun and not finishing leftover homework? And the only really stressful part of the year came from finals and AP exams? Yeah, those were the glory days.
Then you get a bucket of ice cold water in your face which locals around here call COLLEGE. Imagine the one smart kid in all your high school classes who knew ALL the answers. Then think about 30,000 other kids who were the brains of their high schools. Put them all together and you get BYU.
Classes here are HARD. All of a sudden I feel really really stupid. You still have the same old smart kids who still know all the answers. And you look around and wonder if you are really where you should be. How did they get the email with the answers and you didn't?
EXCEPT, today I got to be one of them. I got to taste the elixir of fame and knowledge for about 8 seconds. And it was glorious. I got to be the smart kid who gets the gold star next to their name. 8 seconds of the "YEAH, that was me. The teacher listened to my answer and said, 'exactly.' Yes, that is the taste of grandeur right there." And then, only a simple fleeting 8 seconds later, it's gone.
And you are left with a big gaping hole of wondering if that moment will ever come again.
If I have anything to do with it, then it will.

This only adds to how weird I am. Please, no judging me.... :)
I got the best surprise yesterday!!! (actually, I got a couple of them, but you only get to hear about one right now...)
I made a quick trip home. And sitting underneath the door mat was a lovely brown box.

And guess what this box had in it!!! (You will never guess. EVER. It's just not something you'd think that anyone would get in a package.)
I've been looking for these for forever. No joke. I even looked them up online and went to all the places that said they had them. And NO ONE had any.
So, I took matters into my own hands. :)
And this is what I got:

These are so convenient. How can you NOT want some?
Plus, they're good for you. :)
